Under Armour Speedform Apollo Vent Review

Under Armour’s line of Speedform running shoes provides runners a precise, no distraction fit and feel. Now Under Armour has taken the line farther with the rollout of the Speedform Apollo Vent.

The Apollo Vent delivers all the great comfort and natural feel that runners expect, but the Vent fabric really ups the game of this running shoe. The ArmourVent technology gives runners a mesh material that is breathable, stretchy, and quick to dry.

That’s the Apollo Vent at high level, but by the end of this review you’ll see what Under Armour has done to build on already high performing running shoe.

Speedform Apollo Vent Out of the Box

Since I already had experience with the Speedform Apollo, my expectations were high on the Vent of the box. This line of shoe already carries recognition for being lightweight and a precision fit. How is the Apollo Vent different?

For starters, it’s lighter at 6.4 ounces. When you read the on the road portion of this review, you’ll wonder how a shoe this light and can perform and deliver support.

The seamless upper design makes the Apollo Vent have that sock like feel. Also, add the heel cup and the fit really is locked in.

What I notice immediately once I laced up is that the material is really stretchy. Case in point: my feet are on the wide side. This sock like feel is exactly that. Even with my wide feet, I can appreciate the toe box room and still feel comfortable.

Speedform Apollo Vent On the Run

The Apollo Vent provides a minimalist experience in terms of materials but provides balanced support and stability. You won’t find the Vent providing too much cushion but support is there like a neutral shoe. The low profile at 8mm still gives that low to the ground feel and none of the bulkiness.

Now this is a fast shoe and great for speed workouts. I tested the Vents out on a recent workout and loved how the 4D foam prevents slippage (even when wearing socks). I thought the energy recent worked well for me – not too bouncy but a justified response.

Final Thoughts

The biggest callout is the upper design of the Apollo Vent. No doubt its enhanced to allow more breathability and stretchy, sock-like comfort. This is a great performance shoe that builds on solid Speedform innovation.

Shoe tech junkies will love the features and all runners will appreciate it’s responsive fit and feel.
